This is a true story about a boy who wanted to pay it forward.
In 2013, our nine-year-old son Andy (Anders) handed me a book he had named "Max the Super Dog’s Pet Shop Adventures.
Andy had lost a friend from school to cancer and wanted to comfort his grieving sister. The book, about the three-legged 'super pup,' was created as an activity book to be given as a gift for his friend's sister and later for hospitalized children. Andy was familiar with loss and grief. He knew that both his parents (my husband and I had cancer) and that we were lucky to survive.
I decided to support Andy's vision and reached out to a friend, Richard Sznerch a former Disney artist, whom we knew had the skills to create the artwork for the book and build it on Andy's vision. At that point, we had no idea how this book project would unfold and later support children in several countries.
